About Purina ONE
Purina ONE is a brand of Nestlé Purina PetCare, the pet care division of Nestlé headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. Purina traces back to 1894, when William H. Danforth founded what became Ralston Purina; the company took its current name in 2001 when Nestlé merged its Friskies PetCare business with Ralston Purina. Purina ONE sits in the everyday-nutrition tier of the portfolio alongside sibling lines like Pro Plan, and spans dry and wet formulas for kittens, adults, indoor cats, seniors, and cats with sensitive digestion or weight-management needs.
Purina states that its products, including Purina ONE, are formulated to meet or exceed AAFCO nutrient profiles and then substantiated through AAFCO feeding trials -- meaning the food is actually fed to cats and the outcomes measured, rather than only calculated on paper. Purina manufactures roughly 99 percent of its dog and cat food in company-owned U.S. facilities, and its research and development heritage dates back to a nutrition research farm the company established in the 1920s. That combination of feeding-trial substantiation and in-house manufacturing at an accessible everyday price point is what earned Purina ONE recognition across three of our cat food guides.

Why we recognized Purina ONE
The House of Mittens Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our vet-reviewed category guides. Purina ONE earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: assessed against feline-health criteria, used with real cats, and judged on merit.
Purina ONE products we rated highly
