About Nulo
Nulo Pet Food was founded in Austin, Texas by Michael Landa, who set out to build a nutritional platform around high animal-based protein and low-glycemic carbohydrates rather than the grain-heavy formulas that dominated the category at the time. The company developed its recipes with input from veterinary nutritionists and built its line around a patented BC30 probiotic strain for digestive support, launching at retail in 2011. Nulo has since grown into a recognized name in the premium pet-food aisle, with Apax Partners taking majority ownership in 2021 after buying out earlier investors Cavu Venture Partners and Main Post Partners.
