About Applaws
Applaws traces back to MPM (Making Pet Food Matters), a Manchester, UK pet food company founded in 2002 by Roger Wood, Roger Coleman, and Jon Kinsey. The Applaws brand itself launched in 2006, positioned around short, natural ingredient panels rather than fillers or artificial additives, and first reached UK specialty retailers before expanding into Western Europe, North America, and Australia. In 2024 the brand carried out the largest rebrand in its history, refreshing its packaging and visual identity across more than forty countries.
The lineup is organized into Wet Food, Vitality Wet Food, Dry Food, and Treats, with the fish and tuna wet recipes built around a short list of named proteins as the standout of the range. That short-panel approach carries over into its treats, including the lickable purée we feature below. Independent review site Cats.com scored Applaws a B- overall (6.6 out of 10) in its cat food review, rating Ingredient Quality 9 out of 10, the highest of the six criteria it scored.

Treats
natural treats including the fish purée lickable range we feature below — featured on House of Mittens
Why we recognized Applaws
The House of Mittens Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our vet-reviewed category guides. Applaws earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: assessed against feline-health criteria, used with real cats, and judged on merit.
Applaws products we rated highly
Applaws Fish Puree Lickable Cat Treats 24-Pack 0.5 oz Sachets
Applaws built its reputation on very short, natural ingredient panels, and this range keeps to that pattern with fish as the named lead rather than a broth or starch base. An all-fish lineup is genuinely useful for the cat that has decided chicken is beneath it, and fish aroma is one of the strongest appetite triggers in the category. The sachet format holds the same half-ounce single serve as competing tubes, so portion control and hygiene are consistent with the rest of the field, and twenty-four sachets at a mid per-serve cost make it a reasonable trial size for a fish-driven cat.
