About Wondercide
Wondercide was founded in 2009 by Stephanie Boone in Austin, Texas, after her dog Luna became seriously ill from a conventional flea-and-tick medication. Boone left her career as a real estate tax consultant to research plant-based alternatives, and the cedar-and-essential-oil formulas she developed to protect Luna became the basis of the company. Wondercide is now headquartered in Round Rock, Texas, and appeared on ABC's Shark Tank in 2016, where Boone earned the highest valuation of any female-run company in the show's history at that point and ultimately walked away from a $500,000 offer to keep building the company independently.
The company has grown into a full line of plant-powered pest products spanning pets, home, yard, and family use, all built around cedarwood and other essential-oil actives rather than synthetic insecticides. Wondercide says it has served more than 3 million households over its history, and has expanded distribution from direct-to-consumer and Amazon into national retailers including PetSmart and Pet Supplies Plus. In 2023 the company opened a 62,000-square-foot manufacturing, fulfillment, and office facility in Austin, which it has said lets it keep production and quality control in-house rather than outsourcing to a contract manufacturer.

Why we recognized Wondercide
The House of Mittens Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our vet-reviewed category guides. Wondercide earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: assessed against feline-health criteria, used with real cats, and judged on merit.
Wondercide products we rated highly
Wondercide Flea Tick & Mosquito Spray for Pets & Home - Rosemary 16 fl oz
The most established plant-based flea spray we evaluated, with more than 42,000 ratings where most natural competitors sit under 500 — enough real-world use to judge honestly. The cedarwood-oil formula kills fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes on contact rather than only repelling, and one bottle treats both the cat and the home (bedding, furniture, carpet), which matters because most of a flea population lives off the pet.

Wondercide Flea Tick & Mosquito Cat Spot On, 3 Tubes of 0.03 oz
The only genuinely natural spot-on in our roundup, for a cat that won't tolerate a spray bottle but will accept a few drops at the back of the neck. One tube lasts a month rather than requiring daily reapplication, is water resistant once dry, and is cleared for cats from four months of age.

Wondercide Rose Flea & Tick Spray for Pets Plus Home with Natural Essential Oils (16 fl oz)
By far the best-reviewed natural, plant-based option in the broader flea-treatment category, with over 42,000 ratings against a rosemary-and-cedarwood essential-oil base. It's the natural pick we point pesticide-averse households toward, with the tradeoff that a contact-kill spray needs more frequent reapplication than a monthly topical or an eight-month collar.

- The plant-based spray we recommend first to pesticide-averse households, and one of the products we rated highest in our natural flea care reviews.
- More than 42,000 ratings on its flagship spray, the deepest real-world review base of any natural flea product we evaluated, where most plant-based competitors sit under 500 reviews.
- One of the only natural brands with top picks in two formats, spray and spot-on tubes, giving owners a genuine plant-based option regardless of whether their cat tolerates a spray.
- A cedarwood-oil contact killer rather than a repellent-only formula, and a single bottle treats both the cat and the home environment where most of a flea population actually lives.
- Founded in 2009 after a personal pesticide-poisoning scare with the founder's own dog, and still built around plant-powered formulas rather than synthetic insecticides — the same premise that earned the company its highest-ever female-founder valuation on Shark Tank in 2016.
