About PetArmor
PetArmor launched in April 2011, when its then-maker FidoPharm brought it to retail shelves nationwide as the first generic fipronil product approved by the EPA to treat both cats and dogs of all sizes -- the same active ingredient, at the same concentration, as the category's established name-brand topical. The launch came with a national ASPCA partnership built around affordable preventative pet healthcare. The brand has since changed hands within the pet-health industry: FidoPharm's PetArmor business (via Velcera) was acquired by Perrigo, which folded it into an animal-health portfolio alongside Sergeant's -- a pet-care name with roots back to 1868 -- before PetIQ acquired that OTC animal-health business in 2019. PetArmor is now part of PetIQ's branded portfolio under Bansk Group, alongside sibling OTC brands Capstar, Nextstar, and Sergeant's.
The current lineup centers on PetArmor Plus, a fipronil plus (S)-methoprene topical spot-on for cats and dogs that kills fleas, flea eggs, flea larvae, ticks, and chewing lice in a single monthly application, sold in weight-specific formulas for dogs and a cat/kitten formula. Alongside it sits PetArmor CapAction, an over-the-counter nitenpyram oral tablet, plus the PetArmor Extend collar and PetArmor Fastact spray for households that want a non-topical option. The brand's positioning throughout has been consistent: match the active ingredients pet owners already trust in the name-brand leaders, at a lower price per dose, without requiring a prescription or vet visit.
