About Fruitables
Fruitables was founded by Dr. John Bauer, a DVM and one of the leading PhDs in pet nutrition, on research showing how pumpkin could help dogs and cats manage weight, feel full, and still enjoy a treat. The brand's approach was inspired by nutrition research out of Texas A&M into pumpkin as a low-calorie, high-fiber ingredient for pets, and it grew into what the company now calls its CalorieSmart platform, built specifically around combating pet obesity rather than around flavor alone. Fruitables is manufactured in the USA and is now part of Compana Pet Brands, having previously been acquired by Manna Pro Products in 2018.
The feline lineup centers on crunchy treats in flavors like Tuna & Pumpkin, Salmon & Cranberry, and Chicken & Blueberry, alongside food toppers and a Switch food-transition supplement, all made without artificial colors, preservatives, or flavors. In our own testing for this category, the Tuna & Pumpkin crunchy treat stood out for a short, readable ingredient panel and a formula built to run low in calories, which made it one of the few crunchy treats we'd suggest a cat on a weight-management plan could have regularly.

Why we recognized Fruitables
The House of Mittens Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our vet-reviewed category guides. Fruitables earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: assessed against feline-health criteria, used with real cats, and judged on merit.
Fruitables products we rated highly
Fruitables Crunchy Cat Treats, Tuna & Pumpkin, 2.5 oz
In our cat treats testing, this was a top pick for a short, readable ingredient list built around tuna with pumpkin included as a fiber source, with no artificial colors or flavors. The formula is built to run low in calories, which makes it one of the few crunchy treats we'd suggest for a cat on a weight-management plan, and the small firm pieces work well as training rewards. It carries a 4.6-star average across more than 5,000 reviews.
