About Fancy Feast
Fancy Feast was launched in 1982 by the Carnation Company as one of the first wet cat foods marketed as a gourmet option, debuting with seven flavors sold only in 3-ounce cans. Nestlé acquired the brand in 1985, folding it into what became Friskies PetCare Company; that business merged with Ralston Purina in 2001 to form Nestlé Purina PetCare, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, where Fancy Feast is made today. More than four decades on, the line has grown to over 100 recipes across textures that include Classic Pate, Gravy Lovers, Medleys, and Broths, alongside a dedicated growth-formula range for kittens.
Independent reviewers cover Fancy Feast as one of the most widely recognized names in wet cat food: Cats.com grades the brand on species-appropriateness, ingredient quality, variety, and recall history, and Catster's review credits it with an excellent recall record and real meat in many of its recipes. Every AAFCO-complete Fancy Feast formula is fortified with taurine, the amino acid cats cannot synthesize on their own, and the brand's affordable multi-can variety packs have built one of the largest owner review bases of any wet cat food sold on Amazon.

Why we recognized Fancy Feast
The House of Mittens Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our vet-reviewed category guides. Fancy Feast earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: assessed against feline-health criteria, used with real cats, and judged on merit.
Fancy Feast products we rated highly
Fancy Feast Classic Pate Poultry & Beef Grain-Free Wet Cat Food Variety Pack (30 cans)
One of the wet cat foods we rated highest in our testing. A smooth, dense classic pate with strong palatability, in our reviews it was the wet food our reviewing veterinarian most often reaches for to coax more water into a reluctant cat. It's grain-free, taurine-fortified, and free of artificial colors and preservatives, with one of the largest review bases of any wet food on Amazon, and the pate texture suits kittens, seniors, and cats with dental issues who struggle with chunks. Sold as an affordable 30-can variety pack that makes a daily wet-food habit realistic on almost any budget.

Purina Fancy Feast Kitten Tender Feasts Wet Kitten Food Variety Pack (24 cans)
One of the wet cat foods we rated highest for growing kittens. It carries the AAFCO growth statement rather than adult maintenance, the distinction that matters most when feeding a kitten's higher protein and calorie needs, and its tender, easy-to-eat texture suits small kitten mouths. The high moisture content supports a kitten's developing kidneys and urinary tract from the start. Sold as an affordable 24-can variety pack with tens of thousands of reviews for flavor variety.
