About VetriScience

VetriScience, a brand of FoodScience, LLC, has been developing veterinarian-formulated pet supplements for nearly four decades out of its Williston, Vermont headquarters. The company's foundational product, GlycoFlex, launched in 1981 as the first commercially available glucosamine supplement for dogs, and VetriScience has since built out a full line covering calming and cognition, hip and joint mobility, dental, digestive, and multivitamin support for both dogs and cats. In 2014 it added a Pro Line developed specifically for veterinary-clinic use, and the company says its supplements are now used in more than 15,000 veterinary clinics in the U.S.

Every VetriScience formula is manufactured in an SQF-certified U.S. facility, with routine third-party testing and label transparency the company points to as a differentiator in a supplement category not always known for either. Its calming line, including the Calm & Confident chews we feature here, is built around L-theanine, an amino acid with feline-specific published research behind it, rather than the melatonin- or botanical-heavy formulas common elsewhere in the category.

Why we recognized VetriScience

The House of Mittens Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our vet-reviewed category guides. VetriScience earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: assessed against feline-health criteria, used with real cats, and judged on merit.

VetriScience products we rated highly

VetriScience Calm & Confident Chews for Cats, Chicken, 30 Count
Top Pick 2026

VetriScience Calm & Confident Chews for Cats, Chicken, 30 Count

Built on L-theanine, the one calming ingredient in this category with feline-specific published research behind it rather than research borrowed from dogs or extrapolated from human supplements. The formula is deliberately non-sedating, with no melatonin and no antihistamine, so a treated cat stays awake and responsive rather than groggy, which matters if you're watching for nausea on a car ride. It's the calming chew we see recommended in more veterinary practices than any other in the category, and it carries over 12,000 Amazon ratings, the deepest review base among the calming treats in our roundup.
